As Lori Healey has been digging in to her role as CEO of Tur Partners, a private-investment firm founded by her former boss, she has stepped away from most of the civic boards that once kept her busy.
“The fact I resigned doesn't mean I don't support them financially, programatically or support their events,” she told me this week. “I think they're all fabulous organizations in Chicago.”
Ms. Healey is staying focused on Tur Partners, which was founded by former Mayor Richard M. Daley and helps businesses mobilize leaders, resources and intellectual capital in global markets around the world, including Russia and China.
She has stepped down from the boards at the YWCA, Chicago Loop Alliance and Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, and she's taken on emeritus status at the Chicago Architecture Foundation board.
Ms. Healey, a longtime Chicago planning commissioner, remains sentimental about and committed to the Chicago office of Local Initiative Support Corp. (LISC), for which she serves as chairman of the board.
The organization, headed by Susana Vasquez, is dedicated to improving Chicago's neighborhoods through community work and design, something Ms. Healey is passionate about.
