Grants and Loans
LISC Chicago invests strategically throughout the metro area to foster stronger and healthier communities.
LISC supports neighborhood work by making grants to a network of 16 neighborhood-based lead agencies and more than 50 other partners that serve about half of Chicago's 77 community areas. LISC supports a staff person at each lead agency to lead the local work, identify neighborhood challenges, and respond to new opportunities. LISC makes available program and capacity-building grants, technical assistance and other resources to all partners in the Neighborhood Network.
LISC also makes grants in specific Areas of Work: education, safety, health, tech, business, housing, placemaking and income & credit-building.
LISC makes loans to support development of affordable housing, mixed-use developments, retail improvements and community facilities. It provides pre-development financing, bridge loans and equity to both nonprofit and for-profit partners in neighborhoods across Chicago.
