FOC/CWF Video Feature - Preservation of Affordable Housing, Inc.

Published: July 7, 2015

Staffers at the Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) operated by Preservation of Affordable Housing, Inc. (POAH) view their mission as multifaceted.

For starters, they want to reverse the trend of disinvestment in the city’s South Side and help usher in a new era of economic opportunity. Further still, they want to connect nearby residents with those same opportunities and set them on the path to economic sustainability.

Like its peer organizations in the LISC Chicago network of FOCs, POAH offers an array of integrated services focused on helping clients develop detailed financial plans that take their unique individual circumstances fully into account.

Housed inside the Woodlawn Resource Center, the organization offers personalized financial coaching, public benefits screening, and employment counseling, among other services.

“This is what is needed in this community right now,” says client Chezzie Jordan in the following video. “It was a Godsend to find this place.”
