MetroEdge/RetailEdge
In January 2006, LISC acquired the operations of MetroEdge, a market research firm created by Shorebank to identify business trends in underserved neighborhoods. Now housed at LISC Chicago, but part of national LISC, LISC MetroEdge fills in the information gap in core-city markets by providing market profiles and comprehensive retail scans for Chicago neighborhoods, as well as analyses of buying power for selected communities.
At the same time LISC took over MetroEdge, LISC Chicago expanded its efforts in neighborhood retail development through the creation of RetailEdge. RetailEdge seeks to build the capacity of neighborhood practitioners and developers so that they can work effectively with the City, private developers and retailers to attract quality new development in Chicago neighborhoods.
